Live dead staining of bacteria. The live dead staining of E. coli at different time points was performed using live dead assay kit and imaging was performed using Olympus BX51 fluorescent microscope (Panel a). The left pane shows the total cells (DIC images), middle pane shows the live cells (green) and the right pane shows the dead cells (red). Expression of MazEF system was monitored at different time points for E. coli growing in a closed culture using qRT-PCR. Expressions of 16S-rRNA gene was used as control (Panel b).
